Conceptual design and front end engineering
Mott MacDonald has a large flexible capability to assist the client in front end engineering activities. This capability covers specification development, optioneering studies, architecture engineering and general specifications for detailed design. Our approach is one where we seek to deliver cost effective requirements that lead to successful design implementation and solutions.

Design integration
Mott MacDonald has extensive experience of working with all levels of the supply chain, T1 and T2/T3 contractors to deliver successful complex projects on budget and to programme. We have a lot of experience in engaging and managing stakeholder from users, sponsors and regulatory bodies to ensure that all requirements are correctly interpreted and implemented within an integrated design.

Safety case
We have a reputation for the quality of our modern safety cases and the specialists we employ. We have experts who fully understand the requirements of quantified safety cases. Our safety case authors and reviewers can perform assessments, HAZOPs, HAZAN, probabilistic safety analysis, fault trees, preliminary safety reports to optimise the design of a facility such that safety and costs are effectively balanced. We also have experience of working with regulators to demonstrate that a process or facility meets the safety assessment principles.

Engineering substantiation and design assurance
Mott MacDonald provides a complete assurance service including desk top studies, plant surveys and walk downs, stakeholder engagement with project staff and customers representative. Our skill areas covers, pressure vessels, mechanical handling equipment, ventilation plant, electrical systems, control systems, pipework and structures. We also provide an independent technical assessment service.

Project management
Project management is one of our fortes at Mott MacDonald. We have a dedicated business to serve our customers and provide the highest standards of service in project mangement. We integrate project management and planning into all of our delivery teams and appoint a dedicated project director and manager to ensure that the project meets the all customer and stakeholders’ requirements. We have trade membership of the Institute of project management and many of our staff are qualified PRINCE2 and/or P3e practitioners in project management.
